BIO Re:. Shona Stewart B.A.
Shona has just finished a rigorous education and completed two degrees in April 2010. Her BA (Bachelor of Arts) is in Christian Ministry and her A.A. (Associate of Arts) is in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). As well she studied and wrote an exam and passed to obtain an Exhorter Ministerial Licence as a Minister with the Church of God Cleveland TN.
Shona has also completed the requirements for the ministers portable licence with the Christian and Missionary Alliance for Christian ministry. Prior to this her other post-secondary education includes a certificate in counselling. Shona's work experience prior to getting her degrees was as a counselor at a non-profit that helps women in the sex trade in Victoria, B.C. PEERS (Prostitute, Education, Empowerment, Resource, Society) for two years. She also held a couple of contracts with an affiliated organization CNCEW (Canadian Coalition of Experiential Women) where she facilitated a focus group for sex workers in Regina. She knows firsthand how difficult it is to escape the life of prostitution because she was caught up in it for 16 years. She knows how hard it is to find the courage to leave and the hope that you can make it when you have no education or much job experience. It was very hard for her to go straight on her own. She is here now to help women in Winnipeg as a Pastor of Women’s Outreach at Kilcona Park Alliance Church and Executive Director of Dignity House our first transitional home for women who need help in exiting the life of prostitution and who want to explore and grow their faith in Jesus Christ.
