I am writing to express my concern about the dangerous online harms that are threatening Canadian children.

I am very concerned about how Image Based Sexual Abuse is harming Canadian children and youth, including through the use of AI Deepfakes and so-called “nudifying” apps. Many teen girls are being exploited through the use of this technology — sometimes even by their male classmates.

Many teens and youth—mostly boys—are being targeted in “sextortion” schemes on popular social media apps. Too many children have taken their own life as a result of this exploitation.

Canada must take these online harms seriously and develop real solutions in order to protect our kids online.

Please tell me what you will do to protect children from these very real harms and hold perpetrators accountable? What actions will you take to start holding powerful Big Tech companies accountable when their platforms and apps are used to exploit and harm Canadian children online?
