Producing a New Video.

In 2020, we'll be producing a new  video featuring survivors sharing their stories of exploitation, as well as law enforcement and a crown attorney weighing in on the strengths of Canada's current prostitution legislation.

Event on Parliament Hill.

We’ll be timing the release of this video with an event on Parliament Hill in early 2020. We hope to show this video to MPs in an effort to highlight the merits of PCEPA, Canada’s current prostitution laws enacted in 2014.

Canadian Sexual Exploitation Summit.

In 2020 we'll be laying the groundwork for the first ever Canadian Sexual Exploitation Summit. This will require a lot of planning, preparation, and resources! The summit is scheduled to happen in May 2021 in Winnipeg.

Survivor Support Fund.

In 2019 we gave $26,000 to financially assist 20 survivors of sexual exploitation. In 2020, we want to give $30,000. This is tangible financial support for things such as groceries, car insurance, new glasses, rent, and removal of tattoo brandings.

Choose Change Campaign.

In 2019 we learned that Fairmont Hotels – a Choose Change target for the past three years – has recently decided to remove pornography from their video-on-demand services. This is a huge victory! We also met with the Vancouver Public Library and Edmonton International Airport to ask them to filter their Wi-Fi to protect patrons. In 2020, we'll continue to ask companies to join in the fight of reducing the ease of access to the harms of pornography.

Disrupting Demand in Canada.

In 2020 Defend Dignity will embark on a new partnership with the focus of  tangibly disrupting demand for sexual services in Canada. This new approach to tackling demand has already been shown to be hugely effective in the USA and we are excited to see it at work in Canada.
